On Friday, June 5, the Allegheny YMCA celebrated its recent renovation with a ribbon cutting, remarks from their leadership, along with local and statewide officials, and tours of the revitalized facility.
Bridgeway Capital is proud to have supported this project, and we congratulate the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh, ACTION-Housing, Inc., the project team, and all the organizations who made the revitalization of the Allegheny YMCA possible. It takes a big tent, and last Friday, we were able to celebrate the Allegheny YMCA’s ribbon-cutting Allegheny YMCA as it enters its second century as a community hub with our collective partners.
For generations, their building has been a cornerstone of the Northside—supporting youth, connecting neighbors, and providing housing, wellness, and critical services all under one roof. That kind of place doesn’t just serve a community — it helps define it.
And preserving it wasn’t simple.
This project required nearly $26 million in financing, layered across New Market Tax Credits, Historic Tax Credits, grants, public funding, and bridge loans. It’s exactly the kind of complex, high-impact work that requires deep collaboration, and partners willing to stay the course.
At Bridgeway, we believe community development is about investing in places that help people thrive. We are proud to have supported this effort with a small predevelopment grant and a more substantial bridge loan. We are even more proud to work alongside partners committed to making it happen.
Because this achievement isn’t just about a renovated building.
It’s proof that when nonprofits, public agencies, lenders, and community leaders align around a shared vision, transformational projects move from “too complicated” to complete.
And the impact will be felt for decades to come.
