Trade Institute of Pittsburgh

Bridgeway Capital was honored to be invited to the Trade Institute of Pittsburgh’s (TIP) ribbon cutting event at Bridgeway’s 7800 Susquehanna Street building. The guests included a diverse spectrum of local community development leaders, as well as Pittsburgh Mayor, Bill Peduto, and Allegheny County Executive, Rich Fitzgerald.

In Good Company

By occupying their new 10,000 sq. ft. educational space, TIP joins a dynamic group of small manufacturers, creative entrepreneurs, and nonprofit organizations. TIP shares the building with three other construction job training organizations.

“The support helped us turn a corner and become a more attractive investment for a wider range of funders.”

– Stephen Shelton

TIP enjoys increased recognition as the city realizes the transformative potential of its programs. TIP Executive Director, Steve Shelton, is tackling challenges that are specific to Pittsburgh’s building boom. TIP’s ten week training course is creating a new generation of skilled workers that will fill a growing deficiency of local tradespeople while earning family-sustaining wages. The economic activity created by 7800 Susquehanna Street’s tenants will help attract investment to Homewood.

Multilayered Support

Like Ma’at Construction Group, TIP is a recipient of working capital financing as well as a new tenant at 7800 Susquehanna Street. They are another ideal partner to help Bridgeway transform the underutilized industrial building into a new hub for economic activity in Homewood.

With investments from the Richard King Mellon Foundation, Bridgeway offers multilayered support to enterprises that have the power to transform communities. “The financing from Bridgeway came at a critical time in our development,” stated Shelton. “The support helped us turn a corner and become a more attractive investment for a wider range of funders.” Bridgeway welcomes the growth and evolution of TIP into its new home at 7800 Susquehanna Street.
